Description

Bumblee Honey Soda is a fictional brand that I created for my Advanced Design Interaction class. This project provided an opportunity to learn about different aspects of packaging design, including dielines, print-ready files and accessible packaging solutions.

I designed the logo, custom pattern and product label for the soda along with a detailed soda can dieline and the necessary specifications for packaging printers. My design incorporated CMYK for the pattern and spot color for the gold accents. Additionally, I created a cardboard multipack while maintaining brand consistency.

Process

Before I started designing, I researched different types of soda packaging, including mainstream and craft sodas, to better understand the designs and packaging options that are currently being used. I also created different variations of the logo including exploring typography and possible logomarks for my brand.

I tested different designs on a range of beverage and multipack containers. As part of the design process, I explored how the design could be used to encourage the viewer to rotate the can and packaging. Additionally, I tested visual accessibility/readability of the text by looking at color contrast and text size.
